Monsoon Solutions : Ritucharya ( comprising of two words, “Ritu” which means season and “charya” which means regimen or discipline. Ritucharya consists of lifestyle and ayurvedic diet routine to cope with the bodily and mental impacts caused by seasonal changes as recommended by Ayurveda) .


With the changing season and lifestyle, most of us complain of Dry, Frizzy, Lifeless Hair.

Simple solution to Dry & Frizzy, Normal or Chemically Treated Hair, with Jaggery or Gur Aka Bellam.


Ritucharya with Jaggery or Gur

To control frizziness of hair , we use conditioners.

More conditioners means, more chemicals….,more chemicals means drier hair, as chemical conditioning is only a temporary solution.

October is the season for Gur or Jaggery or Bellam, call it by any name, it tastes as sweet.

Jaggery or ‘gur’ is basically unrefined sugar that is obtained from raw, concentrated sugarcane or palm juice. It has vital vitamins and minerals that promote healthy hair and skin.


Jaggery is also a source of glycolic acid – part of alpha-hydroxyl acids (AHA) – and Iron which has multiple benefits for the skin: it reduces fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and uneven skin colour.

Daily consumption of 8 to 10 gms of Raw Jaggery has proven to be extremely beneficial for Skin & Hair

Alpha hydroxy acids, or AHAs, are natural acids derived from fruits such as oranges and lemons.

Glycolic acid, found in sugarcane is a type of AHA


Benefits of AHA for Skin Care:

· AHAs are primarily used to exfoliate.

· Promotes collagen and blood flow

· Corrects discoloration from scars and age spots

· Improves appearance of surface lines and wrinkles

· Prevents acne breakouts

· Brightens the complexion

· Improves absorption of  base products


Jaggery for Hair:

Jaggery contains AHA’s, Iron & Folate, Potassium, rich source of Antioxidant Selenium & Zinc which help prevent  free-radical damage caused by oxidative stress.

When iron is properly absorbed, it boosts hair health, making it strong and lustrous.

Being rich in iron, eating jaggery with foods that are rich in Vitamin C helps in boosting the absorption of this mineral in the body. Pair it with citrus fruits, amla, guavas, lemons, citrons etc.

 

Hair Mask with Jaggery for soft Lustrous Hair: -


Standardization : Hair Length : One inch below shoulders

1. 4 heaped teaspoonful of jaggery

2. Juice of Half lemon or three teaspoonful of Amla Juice

3. Two Teaspoonful of MrilQ Root Basic Scalp Conditioning Mask.

4. Two Teaspoonful of Plain fullers earth or Multani Mitti

5. Enough water to make a smooth paste.

Mix all the ingredients, make a smooth paste. Apply on the scalp and hair length.

Keep for thirty minutes and wash off with a Hair Wash.

 

Note:

A word of Caution for using AHA’s on face.

AHA’s are very good exfoliators and increases cell turn over. It is like the new skin you get after Chemical Peeling, sensitive to chemicals and the sun. So, Glycolic Acid packs should be used in moderation.
